This isn't a detour from marketing leadership. It's proof that the next generation of marketing leaders don't just run campaigns — they ship products.
Replaces tools people were paying $8–$50 per event for. Built and shipped in weeks.
Joey has a keen ability to take something undefined and make it real. For example, he launched TikTok for Chevron, navigating the uncertainty of others as to how it would perform and proved that it could be one of the most engaging channels for us. In that vein, he saw an opportunity to capitalize on UGC content that someone was posting about our service stations and tacos. He masterfully managed to build a relationship with that person, as well as find the right internal stakeholders in retail marketing with whom to partner. He brought the content to life across multiple channels to increase visibility and engagement for Chevron.
A standout example of Joey navigating cross-functional complexity really well was when he led the launch of our Energy Everywhere video series. He worked with representatives across comms, creative, legal, and an external production company to successfully develop a compelling first-person perspective on bringing energy to life at Chevron. The original video Joey led remains one of my favorite pieces of content that the team produced.
He led an overhaul of our paid search program, drastically reducing our cost-per-click and freeing up significant budget to be allocated elsewhere, to make more great content.
Above all else, I truly valued my time working with Joey and hold him in the highest regard. Over the years, I had the privilege of watching him grow not just as a professional, but as a leader and trusted partner. He became someone I relied on often, and someone who consistently elevated both the work and the people around him. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Joey, both professionally and personally, and I know he will continue to make a lasting impact wherever he goes.
